Food bank centre assistant required at Winchcombe

North Cotswold Foodbank is looking for a food bank centre assistant for the Winchcombe Centre at Encounter Vineyard, Gretton Road, on Tuesdays from 12.30 – 15.30 (2 – 3 hours per week, on a rota). 

Overview of the role

This role involves providing direct support to people who use food banks. Packing their food parcels, making them feel comfortable and suggesting other sources of support where appropriate.

Key tasks

  • Welcome people to the food bank centre
  • Receive vouchers, check validity, and prepare food parcels according to the standard packing lists
  • Make refreshments and tidy up as required during the session
  • Offer a listening ear and suggest further sources of support using information using local information booklet and leaflets
  • Offer prayer to clients, when appropriate (if a volunteer is happy to do so)
  • Work under the guidance of the session leader and report any health & safety or safeguarding concerns to the project manager/session supervisor
